Friday update

On the heels of a decade of robust economic growth, an unprecedented expansion of the textile industry, and the proliferation of microfinance institutions, Bangladesh is transitioning from a low-income to a lower-middle-income country (according to World Bank Classification).  According to the 2015 Millennium Development Goals Progress Report, Bangladesh has been quite successful in achieving several milestones (e.g. reducing incidence of poverty, attaining gender parity in primary and secondary level education, etc.).
